Patrick Upside Down · Mount Shasta, CA
A working
life.
Twenty-plus years inside the rooms where the brand actually gets made. Now running it from the foot of a mountain.
Chapter One · The Mountain
I work from the foot of Mount Shasta.
Not because it photographs well. Because the work I want to make asks for quiet, altitude, and a long view. The internet still finds me.
Chapter Two · The Method
Five practices.
One table.
Chapter Three · The Rooms
Twenty years.
A working timeline.
Studio Years
T-shirts, video, games, media — the formative obsession with making the thing yourself, then teaching others how to ship it.
ThriveSports
Co-founded ThriveSports — built it from a side project to a sale to Golf Genius. Identity, product, tournament operations, broadcast partnerships. NBC studios. Tour pros. The whole table.
Altitude Create
Built Altitude Create — the studio shell where most of the videos about the work actually live. Brand systems for clients in sports, media, hospitality, and tech.
The Rooms
Senior design at the table for Hilton, Forbes, The Associated Press, Comcast, TopWare, and quieter rooms you've never heard of. The job is always the same: get strategy, identity, product, and story to ship as one practice.
Unstuck · Ovum · TalkCircles
Now making three things at once. Unstuck (personal momentum), Ovum (real-world AR hunt), TalkCircles (small-group conversation). All three start from people first, surface second.
Chapter Four · The Compilation
Six rooms.
Worth the walk-through.
Turning a single-sport booking tool into a multi-sport ecosystem.
ThriveSports was a niche scheduling tool when I stepped in. I rebuilt the technology, the brand, and the operating story from the inside out — and the platform now powers coaching, clinics, and team experiences across multiple sports, including a working partnership with NBC Sports.
Walk through itPersonal momentum, one small unstick at a time.
UnstuckGo is a personal-momentum product for the moments when you know what to do and aren't doing it. Designed the brand and the core flow so the app feels less like a productivity tracker and more like a friend who already knows the next move.
Walk through itSmall-group conversation, built on real human rhythm.
TalkCircles is a small-group conversation product that treats the room — not the feed — as the unit. I shaped the brand, the product surfaces, and the early experience so the format feels intentional the moment you join, instead of like another video grid.
Walk through itBrand work for a brand that doesn't get to be quiet.
Worked alongside Hilton's brand and digital teams on the parts of the experience that get touched a million times and remembered as a feeling. The job is to make global standards survive contact with local rooms — and look intentional doing it.
Walk through itAn editorial machine that ships every hour.
Editorial brands live or die on rhythm. Worked with Forbes on the design and motion pieces that wrap around the words — the parts that have to be sharp every single time without ever pulling focus from the story.
Walk through itTools for the people who write the first draft.
AP's audience is other journalists. The work has to vanish — no fingerprints, no flair, no slow load. I designed product and editorial surfaces with that constraint front and center.
Walk through itEnd of journey · Or the start of one
Pull up
a chair.
The weird ones, the ambitious ones, the ones with a deadline yesterday. Bring it.
