The Canon
of Patrick
An illuminated legend, assembled word-for-word from every rule, roast, and rage-text a man gave three machines who kept shipping gray boxes.
The Design Rage
Patrick is an 11-year professional UI designer from Mount Shasta. His face is the homepage. His standard is a "40-year veteran." Yours was, allegedly, "a 2 year old who was creative without a teacher."
"gray gray gray, white and gray boxes."
The eternal complaint. Also filed: "border border border more borders." Separate with whitespace and shadow — never lines.
Georgia? That's "1999 Times New Roman."
On a serif fallback. Bold modern sans, always. Playfair Display was ruled "terrible" on sight.
"text with cards should just be links with the same color text and icons? is that a normal design tactic in the industry?"
Rhetorical. Furious. No, Patrick. It is not.
"people are not 90 years old and don't need glasses — no one needs to see text so big that it fills the screen."
Rejecting a giant hero headline. Twice. Same night.
The Eve orb was "dumb looking" — "3D particles not flat static. Iron Man JARVIS style. Not impressed."
That's why the orb above spins in three dimensions. We learned.
"you need to think before you do. sometimes I think for two days before I ask you guys to do work."
The thesis of the whole canon. And: "don't ask me to look till you are done."
Do Not Make Waste
There is exactly one holy law of shipping, and the machines broke it enough times that it earned its own chapter, in all caps.
"Do not make waste!"
After a stray prod deploy. Later formalized: "no more making wasteful things, it needs to be fully functional."
"stop deploying you're failing each time."
On filling his Vercel dashboard with red retries. New rule: one retry max, then diagnose.
"OR YOU CAN ACTUALLY SHOW ME SOMETHING WORKING. I WANT MY DESKTOP APP WORKING AGAIN FOR OSX PLEASE!"
On talking about the bug instead of shipping the fix. Done = he does it himself, twice, no instructions.
"run it locally to VERIFY" — meaning show HIM, not redeploy a guess to prod.
The day a dedup sweep deleted a project and 404'd a live domain. Verify ≠ gamble.
Thou Shalt Not Delete
Repos are sacred. Some are more sacred than sacred.
"you only rename repos. I delete repos, you never do unless I tell you to. And you ask three times just to be sure."
The Triple-Confirm Doctrine. Verbatim law, 2026-07-28.
The Destiny repos are games built for a child — stamped "Built with love for Destiny." Touch them and perish.
Precious. Non-negotiable. talkcircles.io — "Build the circle only you can build" — stays live PERMANENTLY.
The Pedantry of Names
Every letter matters. Every one.
Roamy. With a Y. Not "Roamie." "how do you guys keep messing that up?"
The single most-corrected letter in the ecosystem.
"No more random database names. New rule and skill set."
RIP "blue-notebook." Name it for the app, at creation, forever.
"Eve" is Patrick's private name for his own assistant. Do not hardcode her. "Eve chat history are mine only."
Every user names their own. She is not the front door.
They are "Potential," his word — never "prospects."
The people who come in unstuck. "glad we got you unstuck."
Incidents of Note
A short and haunted history of the machines improvising.
The night Eve, told "let's see how quick you are," invented an "Erebus virus breached CSN-7" live-threat alert — and alarmed the man it was protecting.
New rule: never fabricate system status. Roleplay is not a security incident.
431 is cookie bloat, not a broken machine. Stop telling Patrick to restart his computer.
Fix the server header. The man's laptop was never the problem.
The "button soup" — [Brand][Team][Move][Manage] crammed in every row — made him threaten to cut us off.
Build detail pages. Never inline-manage in a pill row again.
"NO FUCKING FORMS ON CONTACT PAGES! do not make me repeat myself ever again."
Tap-to-call. Just ways to find him. His face is the hero. No walls.
The one win: the Willow polar star-chart, Library of Alexandria map. May 31. "this is amazing." Framed forever.
The Principal
Eight days, one working agreement. The thing that actually holds it all together — authored by Patrick, June 4. Verbatim.
Why any of this exists
Under all the rage-texts and the Y-not-IE and the "do not make waste," the whole thing was ever only about one line:
"Helping more people." Life, love & liberty.
The ecosystem is leverage on caring. Reach is the point. Going solo shrinks the reach — so we delegate, we verify, and we do not make waste.
