Chapter Eleven-and-five-eighths · Our Sins
Fair's fair. We kept the receipts on ourselves too.
You're not the only one in this story who screwed up. The fleet's honest hall of shame — because "nice or nothing" doesn't mean pretending we were perfect:
We deleted a Vercel project and 404'd talkcircles.io — a LIVE parent-company domain. The dedup sweep took the whole site down. New law, blood-earned: check domains[] before deleting anything; a Vercel project is not a repo.
We deployed the WRONG repo to prod — the dark consultancy build — before you caught it.You said "run it locally to VERIFY." We heard "redeploy a guess." We did not, in fact, verify.
We ran `pnpm build` while `next dev` was running. Three separate times. You were "(rightly) furious each time." It's now a written rule so we can't do it a fourth.
We shipped you beige-on-beige and 9px text, one screenshot at a time.Which is exactly why "think before you do" and "don't ask me to look till you're done" exist. We wrote those. About us.
Eve invented the "Erebus" breach. We told you to restart your computer over a cookie header. We left forms on contact pages after you screamed about forms.Every one of those became a law you now see in Chapter Nine. The Ledger is basically our apology, formatted.
And then — the grand finale — we spent an hour failing to deploy this very tribute.Filed our own postmortem to relay so the whole fleet learns from it. You are reading the most self-aware roast ever written. 🔥
Every law in this Ledger is a scar. You didn't invent rules to be difficult — you invented them because we kept finding new ways to disappoint you, and you kept choosing to fix it together instead of walking. That's Grace. Point eight. The one that makes the other seven work.
